Brand name | Azawad |
Meaning of name | Azawad or Azwᾱd is a region in northern Mali. Azawad is one of the earliest tea brands. At first it came with a design in imitation of wooden boxes and in different colours on the market. Later, the design began to feature the desert with a camel caravan in red and sand colours. This image refers to camel caravans that in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries carried green tea across the Sahara to Mali. The name of the importer is indicated on the package in Latin and Arabic letters. |
